Youth soccer clubs in Idaho
Idaho youth soccer is a Treasure Valley story at the top end.
Club soccer in Idaho
Boise, Meridian and the towns around them hold the clubs that play national-level leagues, while the rest of the state leans on community clubs, city programs and a handful of academies in places like Twin Falls, Idaho Falls and Coeur d'Alene. The Idaho Youth Soccer Association lists clubs in four districts, from North Idaho down to the Snake River plain, and the list runs to dozens of names, many of them small volunteer-run groups.
The state's own pathway is easy to follow. League America handles recreational play, the D3 League and Idaho State League cover local and state competitive soccer, and National 1 is the regional and national step for U15 to U19. Above that, clubs plug into the national platforms. Idaho Rush in Boise runs ECNL Regional League programming for boys and girls and ECNL for boys, and Boise Timbers|Thorns offers ECNL and ECNL Regional League from U13 up. In 2025-26 the ECNL boys moved Idaho Rush and the Boise Timbers into a new Far West Conference with six Oregon clubs. Albion SC Idaho brings a Girls Academy and MLS NEXT pathway, and Idaho Surf plays NPL and DPL.
There is no MLS or NWSL team in the state, so the nearest pro clubs are the Sounders and Reign in Seattle, the Timbers and Thorns in Portland, and Real Salt Lake in Utah. That distance also shapes travel. Boise teams head to Portland, Salt Lake City or the Seattle area for the best competition, and Far West Conference games mean frequent trips across the Oregon line.
Winter is the other thing to plan around. Boise gets cold enough that many clubs shift to indoor or turf in January and February, and fall and spring seasons do most of the work. Tryouts for competitive teams typically come in spring and early summer.
Popular clubs in Idaho
These are the clubs Idaho families ask about most. League badges show what we could confirm for the 2025-26 season, so check each club's own site for current teams, tryout dates and fees. For 2026-27, the NPL and the US Youth Soccer National League combined into the National 1 League, which teams enter one at a time, so ask a club which of its teams play in N1.
Idaho Rush Soccer Club
Idaho Rush is a Boise club that serves players from age 3 through 19. Boys play ECNL and the ECNL Regional League, and girls play in the ECNL Regional League. In 2025-26 the club joined the ECNL boys Far West Conference. Below the top level it runs Mighty Mites, a recreational program for ages 6 to 8, a development league and a high school option. It also hosts the Rush Cup, runs a college advisory program and offers camps in winter and summer.
Boise Timbers|Thorns Soccer Club
Boise Timbers|Thorns runs boys teams under the Timbers name and girls teams under the Thorns name, and its complex is in Meridian. Players move through fall recreational soccer for U5 to U18, a U7 and U8 Academy, Elite and Pre-ECNL for U9 to U12, then ECNL and ECNL Regional League from U13. It also has a toddler program for U3 and U4 and a U20 plus program with men's and women's UPSL sides. The club lists college commitments going back to 2018.
ALBION SC Idaho
ALBION SC Idaho is the Idaho branch of the Albion San Diego organization. Its pathway goes from Albion Juniors to Albion Academy, then to a combined Albion GA and MLS NEXT level, and the club says the wider organization has produced more than 60 state titles and dozens of national team players. It lists winter elite training, spring tryouts and fundraising events on its site. Check the club for the exact fields and age groups used in the Boise area.
Idaho Surf Soccer Club
Idaho Surf serves the Treasure Valley from Boise and Meridian and covers ages 5 to 18. Its Academy teams from U13 to U19 play NPL, with a girls DPL option, and younger players move through a Juniors Academy and a Pre-Academy for U9 to U12. Teams play 7v7, 9v9 and 11v11 formats depending on age. The club also runs an Elko program, camps and tournaments and holds tryouts for the 2026-27 season.

Most of Idaho's high-level soccer is within about 30 minutes of Boise, so if you live in the Treasure Valley, you can compare four or five serious programs without much driving. Ask what league each age group actually plays in, because ECNL, ECNL Regional League, Girls Academy, MLS NEXT and NPL all show up on club sites and mean different travel loads.
Families in Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Twin Falls or the Panhandle will find fewer big-name options, so look at the state's own D3, State League and National 1 pathway first, and ask if players can join a Boise program for tryouts or camps. Winter soccer is mostly indoors, and spring tournaments are where recruiters appear. Get the real season costs in writing, since longer trips to Oregon, Washington and Utah add up.

Idaho club soccer FAQ

The Idaho Youth Soccer Association lists League America for recreational play, the D3 League for local competitive soccer, the Idaho State League for state competitive play and National 1 for regional and national play at U15 to U19. Clubs may also sit in national leagues like ECNL.
What is the ECNL Far West Conference for Idaho clubs?
