Youth soccer clubs in New Mexico
New Mexico has a small competitive soccer world, and almost all of it sits along the I-25 corridor from Albuquerque and Rio Rancho up to Santa Fe.
Club soccer in New Mexico
Outside that stretch, communities like Las Cruces, Roswell, Hobbs, Gallup and Farmington run strong local leagues, but families who want a national platform usually end up driving to Albuquerque.
The New Mexico Youth Soccer Association is the US Youth Soccer state member. It lists 19 affiliate organizations, from the Duke City Soccer League around Albuquerque to Northern Soccer Club in Santa Fe and small-town leagues in the east and south. It also runs the NM State Cup, the New Mexico Cup, an Intercity League, a futsal series and an Albuquerque and Las Cruces middle school league.
For national leagues, the picture is short but clear. MLS NEXT's 2025-26 Academy Division list includes one New Mexico club, New Mexico Soccer Academy, which sits in the Mountain division. The same club's website lists Girls Academy for girls. New Mexico Rapids, a nonprofit in Albuquerque, lists ECNL and ECNL Regional League for boys and ECNL RL and DPL for girls. The pro team is New Mexico United of the USL Championship, and its academy plays in the USL Academy League for U16 to U19 players.
A good reality check is how far teams have gone. A New Mexico Soccer Academy 2010 girls Girls Academy team qualified for the Elite 8 in Richmond, Virginia, and KOB called it the first New Mexico club team to advance out of bracket play to nationals.
Altitude and distance shape the calendar. Albuquerque sits at about 5,300 feet, winters bring cold snaps, and the nearest big opponents are in Phoenix, Denver and El Paso, so travel is built into the season. The clubs below are the ones parents most often compare, and each one links to its own site for current teams and tryouts.

Its website separates boys and girls programs and lists both MLS NEXT and Girls Academy. It also has Santa Fe affiliates, a Roundglass team and a REACH program with a winter camp. A 2010 girls Girls Academy team qualified for the Elite 8 in Richmond, Virginia.
New Mexico Rapids Soccer Club
Rapids is a nonprofit that has served Albuquerque and nearby towns since 2001, with players from age 4 to 19. Boys play in ECNL and ECNL Regional League, and girls play in ECNL RL and DPL. Younger players can start in Rapids Starters or the Youth Academy for U5 to U8. Goalkeeping sessions, technical training, camps and college search help round out the offering. Local play goes through the Duke City Soccer League.
New Mexico United Academy

It covers the U16 to U19 age categories, competes in the USL Academy League and can schedule games against MLS academies, international clubs and college teams. Selected players train at the Mesa Del Sol facility in Albuquerque, and the club says the academy is free for those players, including uniforms and travel. It's a pro pathway more than a typical club.
Atletico New Mexico FC
Atletico New Mexico is based in Rio Rancho, on Loma Colorado Boulevard, and it's on the NMYSA affiliate list. The site lists a youth academy, club teams from U9 to U19, camps and events, and a 2026 trip to Spain with Club Deportivo Tenerife. League names aren't posted on the page, so ask the club which competitions each age group plays in before you commit.
Northern Soccer Club
Northern Soccer Club says it has been at the heart of Santa Fe soccer for more than 50 years. It runs recreation programs including Northern Ninos for U4, a fall and winter Development League for U5 to U15, and an Ascent Academy. Meet Recruitly ›Choosing a club in New Mexico
Start by deciding whether you want a national league at all. In New Mexico that choice mostly means Albuquerque, where New Mexico Soccer Academy and New Mexico Rapids sit, so a family in Santa Fe or Rio Rancho should count the drive honestly. Northern Soccer Club in Santa Fe and Atletico New Mexico FC in Rio Rancho keep things closer to home.
Next, ask about travel. Teams in ECNL, MLS NEXT and Girls Academy play most of their games out of state, and Albuquerque to Phoenix or Denver isn't a short trip. Get a season travel estimate in writing.
If your player is U15 or older and thinking about college, ask each club about its college advising. NM Rapids lists college search help, and Northern Soccer Club lists a Her Way program.
Finally, watch tryout dates. Clubs post them on their own sites, and some, like Northern, hold select tryouts well ahead of the new season.
