Youth soccer clubs in Oklahoma
Oklahoma youth soccer is a smaller world than what you'll find in Texas, and for most families that's a good thing.
Club soccer in Oklahoma
The serious clubs cluster in three places, the Oklahoma City metro, Tulsa and Norman, so a parent in any of them can usually find a real option within a short drive. The state's competitive backbone is the Oklahoma Soccer Association, the US Youth Soccer member here. Its Oklahoma Premier League covers ages 11U to 19U and feeds into State Cup and Presidents Cup play. Above that tier, the national leagues have a real foothold. Oklahoma Energy FC in Edmond fields ECNL teams for boys and girls.
Oklahoma Celtic in Norman runs a Girls Academy program plus a boys ECNL Regional League side. West Side Alliance in Tulsa brought its girls program into ECNL for 2025-26. On the boys side, MLS NEXT is here too, through Sporting Oklahoma, an academy affiliate of Sporting Kansas City, and Tulsa Greenwood SC, which joined the Academy Division for 2025-26 with U13 through U19 teams. Pro soccer adds a local pathway as well, since FC Tulsa plays in the USL Championship at ONEOK Field. The trade off is distance.
Oklahoma doesn't have the dense league schedules that let Dallas or Houston clubs play every weekend within an hour, so higher level teams travel to Texas, Kansas City and Arkansas for games and showcases. Regional leagues such as the ECNL Regional League Frontier Conference were built partly to trim that travel, pulling in opponents from Oklahoma, northwest Arkansas, southern Kansas and southeast Missouri.
Clubs here also tend to run recreational programs beside their competitive ones, so a six year old can start close to home and move up if the interest sticks. The list below mixes the national league members with long running community clubs so you can see who plays where.
Popular clubs in Oklahoma
These are the clubs Oklahoma families ask about most. League badges show what we could confirm for the 2025-26 season, so check each club's own site for current teams, tryout dates and fees.
Oklahoma Energy FC
Oklahoma Energy FC is the state's most visible ECNL club, with both boys and girls teams in the league. The name dates to 2017, when the club grew out of Oklahoma Football Club and linked up with the former Oklahoma City Energy pro team. The club runs a youth academy for younger players and hosts events such as the OKC Open and a winter showcase. Families from across central Oklahoma make the drive to Edmond, and the club's national league schedule means regular travel into Texas and the Midwest.
Oklahoma Celtic
Oklahoma Celtic is one of the oldest clubs in the state, started in Norman in 1976. Its girls compete in Girls Academy, and the boys have a team in the ECNL Regional League. Below those top teams the club offers a junior academy, boys and girls competitive teams, goalkeeping and futsal training, and a recreational league, so a child can start young and stay through high school. It also fields an adult league, which keeps the club active at the field complex through the week.
West Side Alliance
West Side Alliance, usually shortened to WSA, is the big competitive club in the Tulsa area. Its girls program joined ECNL for the 2025-26 season, a notable step for northeastern Oklahoma, and it keeps a separate boys program. The club also runs a youth academy for ages seven to ten, a futsal academy and a goalkeeper academy. A sister branch in the Oklahoma City area plays in the ECNL Regional League Frontier Conference, which brings Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas clubs together for shorter trips.
Sporting Oklahoma
Sporting Oklahoma is the academy affiliate of MLS club Sporting Kansas City, based on Indian Hills Road in Norman and drawing families from Norman, Moore and Oklahoma City. Its pathway starts with a recreational league for ages four to twelve, then a juniors group and an academy for ages seven to ten. At the competitive level, ages 11U to 19U, teams play in MLS NEXT and other leagues, including the Oklahoma Premier League. The club also offers college placement help and goalkeeper training.
Tulsa Greenwood SC
Tulsa Greenwood SC joined the MLS NEXT Academy Division for the 2025-26 season, with boys teams planned from U13 through U19. The club runs its top program under the Greenwood SC MLS NEXT name. For a Tulsa family chasing a boys pathway without leaving the metro, it's the newest answer, though it's a young program and its track record is still being written. Check the club site for tryout and registration details.

Start with how far you're willing to drive, because Oklahoma clubs are spread out and the stronger programs ask for travel. A family in Tulsa and a family in Norman face different choices, so check which national league a club actually plays in before you fall for a logo. ECNL, Girls Academy and MLS NEXT teams travel to Texas, Kansas and Missouri, which means more hotel nights once your child hits the U13 age group.
Most clubs hold tryouts in late spring for the fall season, but dates shift from year to year, so check each club's site. Summer heat and spring storms push a lot of practices to evenings and indoor turf, so ask where teams train when the weather turns. If your child is young, a club with a recreational program and an academy for ages seven to ten lets you stay put while you see how much they like it.
Compare costs too, since the national league tiers carry bigger fees and travel budgets than the Oklahoma Premier League.
